What is time? (random thoughts about Marvin's time post.)

Disclaimer: Before reading, do you know what is time? Like, can you define exactly or at least, explain to a 5-year-old kid? Anyway, enjoy. :)

After reading Marvin's post, I was just... wondering.

So what exactly is time? Most probably the first thought would be the measure of things passing or like, you'll just think that you know, yet to realise that you can't exactly explain because time is just time, something explained by your seniors and you just remember that time is the thing that is told by the SG$2,400 Tag Heuer bracelet on your left wrist.

1. Definition
Explained by Dictionary.com, Time is;
1. "A nonspatial continuum in which events occur in apparently irreversible succession from the past through the present to the future."
-Very true, it is just.. irreversible and often let past without much notice nor concern.

2. "A similar number representing a specific point on this continuum, reckoned in hours and minutes."
Well well, is time... that simple?

3. "An interval separating two points on this continuum; a duration."
A duration, interval in which things occur? Like events?

2. Time tells the future.
Bullshit? Haven't you heard of people saying, "Time will tell." Be it capability, love issues, or even, wounds, time will tell the extent of it.

"Time will tell how capable you are. Just give yourself sometime and prove yourself when you get it!"

"Well, not sure if you really are in love with him/her? Time will tell. Trust me!"

"You really need to get over it, and time will help you to heal all these wounds..."
So, don't you agree that time tells the future?

Or maybe, it would be correct to refer such a phenomenon as... deja vu?

3. What is time for?

1. "A system by which such intervals are measured or such numbers are reckoned: solar time. "

a measurement of...? What can time truely measure?

Is time a true measure of happiness?

Or sadness?

It can probably measure the amount of time (interval) that happiness or sadness is in the air, but can it measure the extent or depth of the issue?

Is time a true meansure of love?

"We're going to the ROM now, we've been together for like 7 years!"

Have you not heard this often? Yes, I would agree to a large extent that so many years would give you ample time to evaluate the other party, but is time a true measure of true love? Be it 7 years, 7 months, or even, 7 days, is it sufficient to know if the couple is going to break up or divorce? How many atimes, have you been in a r/s for so long, and being disappointed in the end? Many atimes, man has been raised to such levels of estacy, yet to discover disappointment aplenty. Would one live happier if he/she has just remained being ... constantly unhappy (of a constant amount, not flacutating)? What do you think?

Ending off this whole post (which probably would be just another utter random ramble once again)... just another question for you to ponder when you're doing nothing, when you're on the bus, or maybe, waiting for that someone special to reply a message...

What exactly is time... to you?

Thanks to Dictionary.com for the explanations.
